Our Hearts

I heard a beautiful poem the other day.

I memorized the last verse of it because it was simple, yet so profound.

What can I give Him, poor as I am?

If I were a shepherd, I'd give Him a Lamb.

If I were a Wise man, I'd do my part.

What can I give?  I can give Him my heart.

I love that.  Truly the only thing that we have to give our Savior is our heart.  It's the one thing that we all have and the one thing that we can all give.

Speaking of heart, I love thinking of this every time I see the word heart.  I learned this from our favorite Youtube guys, Taylor Halverson and Tyler Griffin.

HEART

It is HE whom we HEAR.  We need to soften our hearts in order to get to our spiritual EAR.  Like most ART forms, HEARING HIM requires much faith, patience, hard work, and practice in order to perfect.

I was thinking about 1st Nephi today.  The shortest verse in the book says, "Lehi dwelt in a tent.".  I used to wonder why we had to know that.  I think it may be because we need to recognize the importance of what Lehi did.  He left all of his worldly possessions to follow the Lord's commandments.  All that he had to protect him in the wilderness was his tent.  In Hebrew, the word Atonement means Kaphar, which means "to cover".  Lehi's tent covered and protected him in his wilderness.  The Savior's atonement covered and protected him as well. What about in our wilderness?  What covers and protects us?  The atonement.  We can dwell in a tent as well.  The tent, the covering, of the atonement of Jesus Christ.

Restaurants opened up again.  We went out to eat last night at the Azteca restaurant here in Antelope Acres.  They serve Mexican food.  It was delicious!

We had a great time together.  I am so incredibly grateful for my family.  There is no one else whom I would rather share this journey of life with.
