Today is Saturday, the weekend before we all go back to regular life at school and work. Well, "Covid Regular". Jon will still be working from home and the kids will be learning from home. It has been an absolutely wonderful break and I'm actually looking forward to getting back into a schedule again.
After I write this blog post I'm going to come up with a chore chart that the kids will start following this year. I have been thinking about the scripture in D&C 88:119, "Organize yourselves; prepare every needful thing, and establish a house, even a house of prayer, a house of fasting, a house of faith, a house of learning, a house of glory, a house of order, a house of God." I have always loved that verse and have had it as a goal to create a home using that verse as a formula. I finally printed it out, I'm putting it on our fridge (along with the "Let God Prevail" quotes that are up there from President Nelson, and we will discuss it tonight as a family.
Jon just started a project today. He's building some shelves in our laundry room. I can hardly wait until it's done. I love all of the work that Jon has done in our home. My favorite parts of our home are the parts that Jon has created (the shelves in the library and the entertainment center cubicle). He is so talented and I love that he has helped to use his talents to improve our home. His work will always be embedded within the walls of this home and it makes me happy.
These are are the "before" pictures. I'll post pictures when it is completed!
I have just really appreciated and have felt extremely grateful for our beautiful home. I couldn't have imagined a better home for our family. It is spacious and comfortable and cozy. We often have a fire in the family room that helps increase the cozy atmosphere. The kids are often playing games on the family room floor, or reading on the couches. We have a beautiful view outside of our windows. We have a spacious kitchen in which I can prepare meals for my family while also being in their midst. I just love it so much. It is what I always imagined my home to look like and feel like. I consider myself very blessed. I know that there are so many people who are not as fortunate as I. I pray that I am doing enough to reach out and serve others since I have been blessed with so much.
I found the name "Blake Over" written on Caitlyn's ball. I thought it was funny that Caitlyn wrote this. I suppose she hasn't quite realized that none of her cousins share her same last name, ha ha.
The weather has been unusually nice lately. Uncharacteristically nice. I wonder if winter is over and if we are experiencing an early spring. This means that we will have a very long, hot summer. We have only had one big rain this whole season. I hope that it rains some more.
Anyway, I took the boys on a nice bike ride. Another part of living out here that I love. Family bike rides on the dirt roads. Doesn't get better than this!
I made this "Love Notes From God" scripture project for Lizzie. I'm hoping to be able to do this with the Young Women. Not sure if it will be within our budget though. I put tabs with specific topics near a verse and then glued in quotes on the pages. I thought it turned out well. I would have liked something like that when I was a Young Women. I am recognizing that the more I read the scriptures the more revelation I am likely to receive. As such, I made a goal to read the Book of Mormon 3 times this year. Once every 3 months, approximately 2 chapters a day. I'm looking forward to this goal, and this year, to see what kinds of messages the Lord has in store for me.
Just a few more pictures of my favorite part of our home, our family room.
Oh, and a few pictures of the chocolate chip pancakes that I made the other day. After 14 years of marriage we finally got a griddle for me to make 6 pancakes at a time, ha ha. It sure beats making them in a frying pan.
I decorated the mantle. It was looking so boring without anything on it (since it had been decorated since September with fall/Christmas decorations).
I love how it turned out!
Nana and Grandpa Duncan's "Whinnie the Pooh" books and bear.
I was surprised one day when I turned around and William was dressed like a princess, ha ha.
These two gave me a "surprise party" in the library. They made me cards and everything. They worked hard on it. I love them so much and am so fortunate to get to be their Mom!
