Sunday Scripts: August 9th, 2020

Sunday again!  Where did the week go?  School starts tomorrow!

After church-at-home, Jon gave the kids their before-school priesthood blessings.  He gives them blessings before the first day of school every year and I love it.  Since the kids are all being home schooled, this year will definitely be different.  A learning experience for us all.  An adventure?  I hope I can handle it all.  If I wake up early every morning and am able to exercise and read/listen to something spiritual and uplifting that I think I will be able to handle it.

Here is my comment from our Ward Facebook Page:

"The Lord had inspired Joseph and those faithful missionaries who went to work to achieve a harvest that must have, at the time, seemed beyond them. But the Lord, with His perfect foresight and preparation, made it possible."
This quote stood out to me. We are starting a new school year and it is going to look a lot different than what many of us had been anticipating. Teachers, students, parents...it will be different for us all. We haven't been able to attend church or the temple for months. This is also something that wasn't anticipated. Many people have suffered great financial hardships and illness during this time. All of these things, and more, may SEEM beyond us. However, like the quote above says, Heavenly Father has perfect foresight and no matter what challenges we are facing at this time, we can be assured that He is aware of them. He knew what was going to happen before it happened. A way to overcome these challenges has already been prepared, we just need to trust in our Father in Heaven and reach out to Him in faith.

Caitlyn and William love each other.  They can really be best buddies when they allow themselves to be!

Bryce, Age 10

"My talk was about Come Follow Me.  I talked about Captain Moroni.  I talked about Lehonti and Amalikiah.  They were enemies.  Amalikiah poisoned Lehonti.  Lehonti died.  We can not do bad stuff.  If we do, it will lead to badder stuff and badder stuff and badder stuff.  I'm scared for school to start.  I do not want to wake up early.  I'm scared of Math and Language Arts.  I'm scared of Language Arts because it hurts my eyes."

Mason, Age 8

"I can't wait until school starts.  I'm excited about my big box that I have and the tickets.  And I'm making a comic book.  It's called "Attack of the Swamp Critters".  And we are going to make a big box of comics.  We went camping.  And on my talk we did a game.  We talked about Book of Mormon Characters."

Caitlyn, Age 6

"Today it's Sunday and it's Sunday Special Talks.  And Lizzie is going to have her own chrome book.  James and Lydia came over.  We watched Sophia the First and had a tea party.  And the boys, when James and Lydia were here, the boys watched Pokemon.  And we ate mommy's good pineapple pizza.  And when we went camping we ate hot dogs in the trailer.  And slept there for one night.  And we were going on a boat ride and mommy had sunglasses on and she was doing it.  And mommy was crying (I wasn't, ha ha) and she wanted to come back to the tent trailer.  She was so close to daddy that she wanted to go back to the ocean that she did.  She kept going backwards until she got to daddy.  Brycie got a rope and lassoed it like a cowboy.  We saw little skinny fishes that people were trying to get.  But they didn't bring their boats.  Then I found shells but they were so twirly and big but mommy said don't pick it up so I didn't.  We were going to the park and Brycie and Lizzie found this giant pine cone that was skinny and tall.  And then we came down with Lizzie and Brycie.  And Daddy came down too and we found another giant pine cone.  It was fast and big.  We wanted to take it home and spray it golden.  And we got a rope and tried to get it with the rope and we got a rock and daddy threw it at the pine cone and it did work, a little bit.  And then Mason went on Daddy's shoulders and tried to get it, but it did not work.  So then he went down.  And then Lizzie couldn't go on Mommy and Daddy's hands because she thought she would be mean to mommy's and daddy's hands.  When we were done daddy driveded the van to where the pine cone was and mommy standed on the car and tried to get the pine cone.  But when she tried to get it it was too far.  So daddy tried to climb and he drove around the tree.  And then we ate dinner.  Our hands were super dirty and we got lots of bruises on us.  For school tomorrow I am excited because I can see Ms. Roadhouse on the computer.  And the name of Jesus Christ, Amen."

Lizzie, Age 12 (Her LAST Sunday as a 12-year-old!)

"Welcome back to the Sunday Special.  This week was fun. Our cousins came over.  It was fun.  We had a tea party.  We played Legos.  We colored and we played a game called Babies Run Away.  We went camping on Friday (Mommy included my poems in her blog post yesterday...you better read it, or else!).  My favorite part about camping was boating, although it was crazy, it was relaxing.  Today I talked about President Nelson's talk called, "The Canker of Contention".  It was about not fighting each other, basically.  I thought our family needed it during these desperate times.  My favorite meal this week was the Lemon Fish Thingy.  I also made Lemon Swig Cookies.  They were really yummy.  No one else liked them, but that's okay.  More for me to chew anyway.  I got a sloth llama coloring book.  Thanks for listening to the Sunday Special.  Speak softly and carry a big stick."

William, Age 4

William doesn't want to say anything.  School is starting this week for him too.  I will be focusing more on teaching him his numbers and letters.  Hopefully he will be reading before kindergarten.  This kid likes to eat!  He ate a bowl of honey nut cheerios (his favorite) for breakfast as well as some of daddy's eggs.  Then he ate a granola bar in the middle of church.  He begged for a yogurt right after church.  Then he ate a hot dog.  After church we watched all of the videos that Jon had on his phone of William.  We called it, William Worship Hour.

The kids during primary singing time.  It's so nice that we can put it on the T.V.!

The girls colored these coloring pages and were very proud of themselves.
