First Day of School, 2020

 Well, we made it through the first day of school!  Hooray!  I was so stressed about how it all was going to work out...and it was a breeze.  I don't know if it will always be a breeze, but today was.  I now have hope that this year won't be as bad as I anticipated it to be.  What a blessing!  I know that Grandma and Grandpa Duncan (especially Nana) have been praying for me and I felt those prayers today.  Bryce had a schedule that he followed as far as meeting online with his teacher.  Mason as well.  Caitlyn didn't meet her teacher today...but I hope that she will tomorrow.  All three will be using Acellus for their Math and Language Arts curriculum.  It is a program that will teach them and allow them to move at their own pace.  I think (and hope) that it will be good for them all.


Mason created this robot, "Holes", today.  It's a cute little robot.  He put it on the piano when he practiced, he put at the kitchen table when he ate, and he sat it on the couch when he watched a show.  Uh-oh...this creation is "real" to Mason.  I will never be able to take it apart.  Mason is so sweet in this regard.  He loves his stuffed animals and other pretend creatures as if they were real.  He has a very loving heart.



Mason's First Day of School Questionnaires:



William made this Dino Museum today.  He also surprised me with his school work.  I made these little alphabet books for him. Today I gave him the letter "A" book and asked him to copy the words of things that start with "A".  He copied the letters nearly perfectly!  His handwriting is amazing!  I'm not too surprised though...he is really good at coloring.  He colors in the lines and is starting to draw some amazing pictures for a 4-year-old.



Lizzie played with William this morning quite a bit and it was a huge help.  In fact, it was probably the reason things went to smoothly today. I told her I'd pay her, ha ha.








I started the day off with making the kids a "good" breakfast.  It's "Muffin Monday".  I made egg/ham muffin cups and really yummy healthy banana nut muffins.


It's tradition for me to give the kids a giant chocolate chip cookie for an after school snack on the first day of school.  I made one today but I wasn't able to get a picture of it.  Oh well.  I will record it here so that they know that it happened.

We are learning about the 2,000 Stripling Warriors for Come Follow Me this week.  I have absolutely loved reading the Book of Mormon this year.  I have supplemented my studies with so many different things that I feel like I am really getting so much out of the Book of Mormon.  Jon and I watch a YouTube class every Sunday, I listen to a few podcasts, as well as reading the scriptures and studying the Come Follow Me manual that the church provides.  I just feel so blessed that I have all of these resources available to me at my fingertips.  I will never be able to stop learning.  I love learning about the gospel.


I'm also excited to start my nutrition class next week.  And my Spanish "class" on Wednesday.


Well, I hope that tomorrow is just as good as today!

 2021...What a year! Some Highlights: I read the Book of Mormon 4 times this year (one time I finished in 29 days!) We studied the Doctrine and Covenants for Come follow Me! Lizzie Started Highschool (and seminary)! William started Kindergarten! I got depressed being home without the kids...so I got my first job in 14 years! I was called to be the ward Young Women President in January. Jon is still serving in the Bishopric, this year as the 2nd Counselor. Bryce was ordained to the office of a Deacon and serves as the Deacon Quorum President. Jon broke his foot in March and had to have surgery. Our fruit trees produced no fruit this year, which was sad. Lizzie was extremely sick for about 2 months.  She had ovarian cysts, major constipation, and valley fever! We had the opportunity to listen to two General Conferences, which are my favorite holiday's. Feeling Awful

 I feel awful about something that I did today.  Well, something that I DIDN'T do.  I feel like the worst person in the world.  I feel like horrible.  I was prompted to do something and I ignored the prompting.  It's eating me up. It's short, so I'll explain it here. I went to Relief Society today.  The first time in about three years.  I sat with Jon's Mom.  I noticed a girl sitting in front of me who was sitting alone.  I chatted with her.  I had the thought to sit next to her so she wouldn't have to sit alone, but I didn't feel like I could leave Sandy.  I didn't want to make Sandy feel bad by leaving her so I ignored the prompting.  Then I went and accompanied a song on the piano.  While I was playing I had the thought, again, that I needed to sit next to this girl.  I decided that I would sit next to her on my way back instead of sitting next to Sandy.  However, as I walked back, someone else was sittin...

The Last of the Spring Break, 2019 Posts

It's been a long 2 weeks!  It's been so wonderful though and I am really not ready for the kids to go back to school tomorrow.  I love having them home and I love having our freedom and no real responsibilities.  Summer couldn't come soon enough! We found out this week that Grandpa Duncan had a stroke.  We were all so sad.  We all fasted for him and have been praying every day for his recovery.  Even 7-year-old Mason, who has never fasted before, wanted to fast for Grandpa.  He dd so well and I was so proud of him!  We can hardly wait until June when we can visit Nana and Grandpa in person. I didn't realize it, but one of the days this week I did Walmart Pick-up (where I order things on-line and then the worker brings the groceries out to my car) and accidentally ordered A TON of these chocolate eggs!  They truly are the best chocolate egg in the world, so I'm not really complaining...but what in the world are we going to do with the...
