Lizzie's Fifteen!

I started going in to work this past Monday.  The first day was nice, we got to spend time in our classrooms.  My classroom was a disaster.  Before summer vacation, we had to take everything off of our walls and move all of the furniture into the center of the room.  When I returned on Monday, the walls were painted (hooray!), but it was a mess.  I spent the majority of the time on Monday trying to make sense of it all.  On Tuesday, we had a Professional Development Day/Meeting.  It lasted the majority of the day, so I wasn't able to do much work in my classroom that day.  Wednesday and Thursday were "paint days".  We had to paint classrooms and it was exhausting work.  My poor coworker had aching hands all through the night.  I was fine on Wednesday,  but after a few hours of painting on Thursday I just couldn't do it anymore.  I made it to the end of the day, but it was a very long day.  Tomorrow (Monday) and Tuesday we will not have time to be in our classrooms because we will have to spend all day in the lunch room helping the students with registration.  I hope that they will let us get our classrooms ready on Wednesday and Thursday.  School was originally supposed to start for the students on August 22nd, but because of the painting situation, they had to bump back the start date till the 29th.  Whew.

I'm really looking forward to starting this school year on the right foot.

The kids seem to be doing well at school and enjoying it.  Caitlyn really likes her teacher this year.  Mason has 36 students in his class, so I'm hoping they split the class soon.  I was able to volunteer in Mason's class this Friday, which was nice.  I'm grateful that my job will allow me to volunteer on Friday's.

I didn't take many pictures this week.

I'm making a door decoration for my classroom.  "Welcome!  You fit right in!"  Each of the students have their own puzzle piece.

I got my hair cut on Friday.  I went to the same stylist that normally does my hair, but she cut it completely different this time around.  I'm practically bald, ha ha.  Oh well.  I feel free!  This haircut is extremely low maintenance.  Who knows, maybe I'll just stick with it.

I accidentally dropped the eggs while bringing the food in after shopping.  I hate it when that happens, ha ha.

Lizzie-Lou is FIFTEEN!  Fifteen sounds so old.  I hope that she had a good birthday.  We gave her her birthday gift early (Disneyland with Lily), so she didn't really get anything on her actual birthday.  I made her cookies to take to seminary and Jon took her out for lunch and to Michael's so she could get some yarn.  That's about it.  I asked her multiple times if she wanted to invite friends over, but she declined.  We are having family over tonight for dinner.  We are having her traditional Mixtas (Hotdogs, corn tortillas, guacamole, and cabbage).  I also made her a cheesecake!

One day there are going to be houses built in front of our kitchen window.  Until then, I want to cherish this beautiful view every single morning.  It's so lovely, peaceful, and serene.

Until next week!

One more thing...

I have been having the kids quote Joshua 1:9 in the car every day on the way to school.  They have it memorized now and it makes my heart so happy.  They now have something in their mind to give them strength and courage throughout the day.  This week, we will start memorizing Helaman 5:12.
