Messages from God
What I have learned from the Doctrine and Covenants (so far) this year:
“The Book of Mormon is the ‘keystone’ of our religion, and the Doctrine and Covenants is the capstone, with continuing latter-day revelation. The Lord has placed His stamp of approval on both the keystone and the capstone.” - President Benson, April 1987
“Virtually every page of both the Doctrine and Covenants and the Book of Mormon teaches about the Master - His great love for His children and His atoning sacrifice - and teaches us how to live so that we can return to Him and our Heavenly Father.” - President Benson, October 1986
The majority of the words in the D&C are coming straight from God!
MESSAGES FROM GOD:
God LOVES us and is in our midst!
“...I myself will go with them and be in their midst; and I am their advocate with the Father, and nothing shall prevail against them.” (32:3)
“Behold, I will go before you and be your rearward; and I will be in your midst, and you shall not be confounded.” (49:27)
“And now, verily I say unto you, and what I say unto one I say unto all, be of good cheer, little children; for I am in your midst, and I have not forsaken you;” (61:36)
“And whoso receiveth you, there I will be also, for I will go before your face. I will be on your right hand and on your left, and my Spirit shall be in your left, and my Spirit shall be in your hearts, and mine angels round about you, to bear you up.” (84:88)
God is LIGHT!
“I am the light which shineth in darkness, and the darkness comprehendeth it not.” (6:21)
“And that which doth not edify is not of God, and is darkness.” (50:23)
“The Spirit giveth light to every man that cometh into the world; and the Spirit enlighteneth every man through the world, that hearkeneth to the voice of the Spirit.” (84:46)
“And the light which shineth, which giveth you light, is through him who enlighteneth your eyes, which is the same light that quickeneth your understandings;” (88:11)
“...I am the true light that is in you, and that you are in me; otherwise ye could not abound.” (88:50)
God wants us to HEARKEN! (To Listen and Obey).
Revelation is REAL!
What He says unto ONE He says unto ALL.
God knows our names, each of us, individually.
God DELIGHTS in blessing us and forgiving us!

“...pray always lest that wicked one have power in you…” (93:49)
Section 89 (The Word of Wisdom) is not just about being healthy, it’s about being HOLY. It’s not a health code, but a HOLINESS code.
We need to plant ourselves wherever we are, no matter how long we will be there. We can do good wherever we are!
The early saints sacrificed SO much! They had amazing faith! What am I doing in my life to honor their tremendous sacrifices? We cannot let their sacrifices be in vain.
“I remember my servant Oliver Granger; behold, verily I say unto him that his name shall be had in sacred remembrance from generation to generation, forever and ever, saith the Lord...and when he falls he shall rise again, for his sacrifice shall be more sacred unto me than his increase, saith the Lord.” (117:13)
Recipe for REVELATION:
“...put your trust in that Spirit which leadeth to do good...this is my Spirit.” (11:12)
“Ask, and ye shall receive; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.” (4:7)
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, if you desire a further witness, cast your mind upon the night that you cried unto me in your heart, that you might know concerning the truth of these things. Did I not speak peace to your mind concerning the matter? What greater witness can you have than from God?” (D&C 6:22-23)
“Yea, behold, I will tell you in your mind and in your heart, by the Holy Ghost, which shall come upon you and which shall dwell in your heart...this is the spirit of revelation.” (8:2-3)
“...study it out in your mind; then you must ask me if it be right, and if it is right I will cause that your bosom shall burn within you; therefore, you shall feel that it is right. But if it be not right you shall have no such feelings, but you shall have a stupor of thought that shall cause you to forget the thing which is wrong;” (9:8-9)
“Draw near unto me and I will draw near unto you; seek me diligently and ye shall find me; ask, and ye shall receive; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.” (88:63)
Help in TRIALS and HARDSHIPS:
“Ye cannot behold with your natural eyes, for the present time, the design of you God concerning those things which shall come hereafter...for after much tribulation come the blessings.” (58:3-4)
“And ye cannot bear all things now; nevertheless, be of good cheer, for I will lead you along.” (78:18)
“...all things wherewith you have been afflicted shall work together for your good.” (98:3)
“Therefore, they must needs be chastened and tried, even as Abraham, who was commanded to offer up his only son. For all those who will not endure chastening, but deny me, cannot be sanctified.” (101:5)
“My son, peace be unto thy soul; thine adversity and thine afflictions shall be but a small moment; And then, if thou endure it well, God shall exalt thee on high;” (121:7-8)
“...that all these things shall give thee experience, and shall be for thy good; The Son of Man hath descended below them all. Art thou greater than he?” (122:7-8)
“...hold on thy way…” (122:9)
Rely on the Lord. Trust Him! He knows the beginning from the end! We have a myopic view (to use President Nelson’s words)!
We have our agency...even to the end!
“...they shall return again to their own place, to enjoy that which they are willing to receive...For what doth it profit a man if a gift is bestowed upon him, and he receive not the gift?” (88:32-33)
The worth of souls is great in the sight of God!
“Remember the worth of souls is great in the sight of God. For, behold, the Lord your Redeemer suffered death in the flesh; wherefore he suffered the pain of ALL men, that ALL men might repent and come unto him.” (18:10-11)
Faith precedes the miracle!
“...stop, and stand still until I command thee, and I will provide means whereby thou mayest accomplish the thing which I have commanded thee.” (D&C 5:34)
“Remember that without faith you can do nothing;” (8:10)
“For I am God, and mine arm is not shortened; and I will show miracles, signs, and wonders, unto all those who believe on my name.” (35:8)
Positivity amidst the hardships!
“Go forward and not backward. Courage, brethren; and on, on to the victory! Let your hearts rejoice, and be exceedingly glad.” (D&C 128:22)
“...let us cheerfully do all things that lie in our power.” (123:17)
