Another Week Gone!

 This week flew by!

I have been studying Anatomy/Physiology non-stop, it seems.  The kids' school work is slowing down so they have had more free time.  Unfortunately, it's getting so hot outside in the day time that we are trapped inside.  We will have to go out and run through the sprinklers this week...it's a hassle, but I can't stand seeing the kids trapped inside all day.  They are starting to drive each other crazy.  They are starting to drive ME crazy!  Ha Ha.

Once summer officially begins, we will put them on a schedule that they will be forced to stick to each day.  If not...I have a feeling it's going to be a very long summer!

We found a few snakes this week!

There is a birds' nest in one of our rose bushes that we put snake traps around so that we could catch the snakes before they eat the baby birds.  We caught two snakes...and saved the birds in the process.  Mission accomplished!

I went running early yesterday morning.  Another 8 mile run...which did not feel as good as last week, ha ha.  I don't know if it had anything to do with the fact that I got the 2nd Covid Shot this week, or what, but I was done by the 6th mile!  I used all of the will-power that I could muster to finish the last 2 miles.  Thank goodness for the wireless ear pods...I listened to a few Come Follow Me Podcasts and got my spiritual boost for the day.

As I walked outside to get started, I was greeted with the most beautiful sunrise!

When I got home, I posted this on Facebook:

""Thou shalt thank the Lord thy God in all things." D&C 59:7
One of my absolute favorite things to do is to go outside in the early mornings and watch the sun rise. There are few things better than inhaling the fresh morning air, hearing the sound of the birds, and feeling the peace that seems to exist only in those early hours. I truly treasure these moments. At heart, I'm a mountain girl. I love the green and the trees! I yearn for it some days. However, after having lived in the desert for the past 16 years, I have truly come to appreciate the beauty of the brown. When I see the beautiful sunsets and sunrises that we are blessed to see here in the desert, I am reminded that beauty really can be found everywhere. Yesterday, we had a discussion with our kids about the importance of being grateful in all things. Today, I'm feeling grateful for the desert. I never thought I would say this 16 years ago when I first moved here...but I don't think there is anywhere else I would rather be than right here, right now. #givethanks"

The birds are getting big and starting to look like real birds!

Caitlyn was so proud of herself for reading her first chapter book!

Lizzie's official LAST DAY of 8th Grade!  She is now officially a freshman in high school!

Lizzie has really been working hard to develop her artistic skills.

This old picture popped up on our picture frame.
My Dad thought that it was so funny to draw pen all over Mason's face!

Another day this week I went out for an early morning run and snapped this picture of the beautiful sunrise.

I texted this picture to quite a few people with the following text:

"I snapped a picture of this beautiful sunrise when I was outside early this morning.  I love sunrises!  They give me hope and remind me of the atonement and the gift of repentance.  In this picture, the dirt path leads towards the sun.  In life, the covenant path leads towards The Son (of God).  His path is the only way that leads to happiness in this life and eternal life in the world to come.

Elder Uchtdorf said:

"It is my testimony that many of the deepest regrets of tomorrow can be prevented by following the Savior today.  If we have sinned or made mistakes - if we have made choices that we now regret - there is one precious gift of Christ's Atonement, through which we can be forgiven.  We cannot go back in time and change the past, but we can repent.  The Savior can wipe away our tears of regret and remove the burden of our sins.  His Atonement allows us to eave the past behind and move forward with clean hands, a pure heart, and a determination to do better and especially to become better."

How grateful I am that we are given the opportunity to choose to change."

The skies were amazing this week!
Here is a picture of one of the sunsets.

We have been going on walks after dinner.
Mason and William enjoyed making this shadow monster!

A random picture popped up that the kids thought was hilarious!

William, playing with his baby named "pea".

This picture of Bryce popped up and I could not stop laughing about it all day.
I wonder what he dug up and ended up putting in the pot!

Snake number 2!
