Better Late Than Never
I feel like I have failed in regards to my goal of recording something daily. I apologize. However, I'm choosing to write now, which is better than never. Sometimes I don't write anything because my hormones are crazy and I don't want to pretend that I'm feeling well when I'm not. I'm sorry. Life is really SO good and I have no reason to be sad at all. Satan really gets to me at times. A lot has happened over the past 11 days...let me see if I can remember.
A few weeks before Thanksgiving, my cousin (Tiffany) had a tragedy happen in her little family. Her 5-month-old baby boy unexpectedly died. It was heartbreaking to me to think about. What a sad nightmare for a mother to have to endure. Tiffany has incredible faith, however, and her testimony remains strong. I held my children a little closer that week as I thought of Tiffany's tragedy.
Tara's family came to visit for a few days! It was seriously so much fun. I laugh until I cry when I'm with Tara. I miss that. I long for the days when they lived here in the Antelope Valley with us. When they went to all of my kids' birthday parties and we celebrated Holiday's together when we could. The good old days. Maybe if Tara still lived here my Dad would have more motivation to come and visit us aside from once a year for a day or so.
When Tara's family was here we just hung out at home. The kids played together, the adults played games, we watched movies, and we ate. The 2nd day we went to Apollo Park and had a Pizza Picnic. Then the kids drew names and we went to the dollar store and bought presents for the kid whose name we drew. It was fun! Their time here went by too fast.
For Thanksgiving, we went over to Darlene's house. Jon's parents and grandma stayed with Darlene during Tara's visit and they were already there (and they were making the turkey), so we just went over there. I was cooking in the kitchen for 8 hours straight. It was good food! I made a raspberry honey butter spread, homemade rolls (which were to die for), sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, homemade cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie bars, deviled eggs, raspberry ribbon jello salad....that may have been it, but I can't quite remember. I was so exhausted at the end of the day.
Jon's parents are still living with us. I don't know for how long. Jon and I have helped paint a few times, but it seems like we barely put a dent in the work. It seems as if it will never be done. We originally didn't want to put up our Christmas Decorations until they left...but I put them up today anyway. Chances are they will be here until Christmas. I'm just accepting that fact and I'm going to enjoy my decorations anyway. I was able to put most of them up, even though the library is off limits.
We are finished buying everyone Christmas gifts. It feels to be done so early. Now we can enjoy the month of December. I already gave treat plates to the sisters that I visit teach/minister to yesterday as well. It felt good to get it done early. For Christmas, I gave Amanda, Tara, Darlene, and Myself (ha ha) a 25 days of Christ Christmas countdown. It came with 25 ornaments that we had to paint and finish (Tara and I did this together when she was here). Each day you read a scripture and put up an ornament that has to go with the scripture. I'm excited to start this tradition tomorrow!
As I mentioned above, I made treat plates yesterday and gave them out to 7 people. I made Chocolate English Toffee, Chocolate fudge with marshmallows and graham crackers, gingerbread cookies cut out with my Nativity Cookie Cutters, and cinnamon chip bread. It was a lot of baking, but I enjoyed it. I really love baking and giving my creations to others. They might not be appreciated...but it's the best that I have to offer.
Jon is so sweet and such a good husband. For Christmas, he got me 3 sets of warm-up clothes...I haven't gotten new ones in years. He also just gave me some perfume. He treats me WAY better than I deserve to be treated. If only I could do something for him in return.
On the 20th, President Nelson gave a recorded message about Gratitude. He encouraged everyone to post about the things that they are grateful for on Social Media with the hashtag #GiveThanks. So many people participated and it was a breath of fresh air to see so much gratitude rather than the negativity that has been floating around for months on social media.
Anyway, here are a few pictures of the past few weeks. I didn't take many, unfortunately.
The moon today looked orange!
