The Last of the Spring Break, 2019 Posts
It's been a long 2 weeks! It's been so wonderful though and I am really not ready for the kids to go back to school tomorrow. I love having them home and I love having our freedom and no real responsibilities. Summer couldn't come soon enough!
We found out this week that Grandpa Duncan had a stroke. We were all so sad. We all fasted for him and have been praying every day for his recovery. Even 7-year-old Mason, who has never fasted before, wanted to fast for Grandpa. He dd so well and I was so proud of him! We can hardly wait until June when we can visit Nana and Grandpa in person.
I didn't realize it, but one of the days this week I did Walmart Pick-up (where I order things on-line and then the worker brings the groceries out to my car) and accidentally ordered A TON of these chocolate eggs! They truly are the best chocolate egg in the world, so I'm not really complaining...but what in the world are we going to do with them all?!
So far, we brought 2 bags to an end-of-spring-break backyard party. The 2 bags vanished within minutes! We also made chocolate egg blondies (brownies, but without the chocolate) on Saturday and chocolate-chocolate egg cookies today for dessert. I'm a little sick of those eggs! We are having a ward Easter party in a few weeks and I've decided to stuff our Easter eggs with them.
Here is a picture of a few of the kids at the backyard party we went to. The weather has been so beautiful! This trampoline was pretty neat! It was sitting inside of a hole in the ground. I was thinking it would be neat to do this in our new home but Jon decided that it would be a perfect snake pit if we were to do that. I concur!
We went to the library a few times. I packed up all of the kids' books so the library has been our best friend lately. I love the library! Bryce is reading a World War 1 book, I believe.
Caitlyn is a born nurturer. She always grabs these babies, first thing, and makes sure that they have their needs met (they are properly clothed and fed). Then she tucks them in all nice and cozy in their little basket. They are so well behaved that they sit happily next to their "mommy" as she reads her books or works on puzzles. Caitlyn will be a great Mom someday!
William is sitting on my lap working on a puzzle. He loves these jumbo puzzles. And he loves choosing every random book (especially the spooky Halloween books) and having me read to him until his little heart is content.
We went swimming a few times at the YMCA. Honestly, I don't really enjoy going swimming with the 5 kids by myself. Especially because 3 out of the 5 are still dependent on me in the water. Mason is getting there, but I still worry about him going off on his own. We usually stay in the pool for about an hour and it sometimes seems incredibly long to me. And then its FREEZING when we get out. I feel like it takes me hours to warm up!
Here is William, post swimming time bath. He didn't want to show his face but he looked adorable relaxing there on the carpet without a care in the world.
Today was Sunday. The weather was 75 degrees! I took the boys on a walk in the desert. The girls opted to stay home. Shortly after taking these pictures we ended up seeing a coyote and the boys were terrified, so we hastily ran for shelter in our car and returned home. On the way home, the boys were so excited that their prayers were both answered. Mason was praying to see a coyote, so he was happy that his prayer was answered. When we actually saw a coyote, Bryce prayed that the coyote would go away, which it did. So he was happy that his prayer was answered. Now they both have a story to tell in primary when their teachers ask them if they have ever had a prayer answered!
Come, Follow Me! 2 weeks for this section. General Conference is on Saturday and I can hardly wait! I decided that the Easter Bunny will be visiting our house on General Conference Saturday. We will be moving over Easter weekend and I didn't want him to come at that time. I actually really like the thought of him coming on General Conference Saturday. I think this will be a new family tradition for us. :)
