Spring Break Overload, Part 3

Lizzie was able to go to the temple for the very first time to do baptisms for the dead!  We went to the Los Angeles Temple, of course.  It was an amazing experience and I feel so privileged to have been able to be there with her to witness her very first time walking inside of God's Holy House.  She loved it.  She said that it felt very different than outside of the Temple.  She said it felt very nice, quiet, and peaceful.

She did SEVENTEEN family names!  Jon has been really into family history recently and has found a lot of names from his side of the family.  12 names were from Jon's side and I was also able to find 5 names from my side of the family.  So, 17 names it was!  What a special experience.

Little Will!  He kept touching Jesus's feet and saying "Ouch, Jesus is hurt!"

Angie and I ran our half marathon!  Finally!  And I survived.  I was so nervous.  I knew that something was going to be hurting towards the end and I was correct.  I had to slow down.  My knees and my hips were causing me issues.  In the end Angie and I ended up running 2/3 of the race together and then she went ahead on her own.  She ended up finishing about 2 minutes ahead of me.  I finished in 1 Hour, 41 Minutes.  It was about 1 minute faster than my last half marathon...in retrospect I wish that I would have kicked it in more at the end and broken 1:40, but I know that I really just gave it my all, considering all of my odd injuries that I had throughout training.

Running on the beach was an awesome experience!

I learned that only 7% of women finish half marathons in under 1 hour and 45 minutes...so I guess I didn't do too bad, ha ha.  This race was so TINY!  Only 54 people ran the half-marathon...Angie got 2nd place and I got 3rd.  Ha ha!  I don't even feel good about that because I know I only got 3rd because of the size of the race.  Mason thought it was pretty cool though and so I gave him my finishing medal.  I told the kids that once we move I can find my other medals from my other half and full marathons.  They can each have one as a reminder that if they put their minds to something they can do hard things.

After the race we spent the day in Long Beach.  We went to the aquarium, among other things.

The kids loved the bottom of the Ray fish...they have smiley faces on them!  They all wanted to get their picture taken next to the Ray.

The dress-up portion of the aquarium is always a fun part for the younger ones!

Sunday
March 24th

Today was Stake Conference.  Church ended at 12:00.  It was a beautiful day and we wanted to get out of the house for a little walk.  The California Poppies are so beautiful this time of year, particularly this year since we have had so much moisture.

Such a beautiful site!

William fell asleep in the car and wasn't happy to be awake, to say the least.  He eventually stopped crying when I promised him a granola bar, ha ha.

I won't have my church calling for much longer since we're moving.  Not many more of these "Come Follow Me" reminders to create.

The kids have another week of Spring Break this week!  More adventures to come!
