A Weekend in Heaven

Image
What a weekend we just had! On Friday morning, I had no intention of driving to Utah. Early Saturday morning, the younger 4 kids and I arrived at Tara's house. Kynzlee Dawn Turley (Craig's Daughter) was getting baptized on Saturday.  I was asked to give the talk on Baptism.  I was thinking about the talk all week.  Friday morning, as I was printing out my "thoughts" about baptism, I just felt an overwhelming desire to be able to give the talk in person rather than via zoom.  The seed had been planted and it was quickly swelling and growing.  I asked Jon what he thought and he said that I could go as long as the vans' tires were rotated first.  I was able to get an appointment quickly, Jon took the van in, I finished up school with the kids, they took showers, we packed, and when Jon returned we packed up the car and hit the road.  It was very spontaneous...and I truly felt like Heavenly Father was prompting me to go.  That morning I was praying th...

Regrets...If Only I Could Turn Back Time

Image
I have been filled with so many regrets lately.  Regrets that just overwhelm me and make me wish more than anything that I could turn back the clock.  If I could turn back time I would do certain things differently.  I would say things differently, or not say anything at all.  Not saying anything at all would probably be best.  It seems as if every time I open up my mouth I say the wrong things.  I say things that give people the wrong impression of me.  People think worse of my when I open my mouth and speak.  I think worse of myself when I open my mouth and speak.  Sometimes I just can't take it anymore.  The guilt and regret just overwhelms me and I can't stand myself. I had to teach the Young Women lesson yesterday, unexpectedly.  I had one evening to prepare.  Just as I sat down to prepare the lesson I found out that one of our Young Women had been in a bike accident and had broken her collarbone and needs surgery....

A Quick Testimony

I have been thinking about the Easter story this past month.  It’s my favorite story.  I love learning about how our Savior suffered for us in Gethsemene, suffered and died for us on the Cross, and then was resurrected three days later.  It’s the most wonderful news in the world.  Nothing else really matters.  Because of Him, we don’t have to die spiritually.  We can repent and return to live with our Heavenly Father one day.  Because Christ rose from the grave, we can too.  Physical death is not final.  It’s such a beautiful message of hope. This past Easter, I woke up Mason and Caitlyn early, right before the sun rose.  We bundled up and went outside for a nice, quiet walk in the desert as we watched the sun rise.  We talked about how just as the sun rises in the East after a dark night, the son of God also rose from the dead on Easter morning and how, whenever we see the sun rise in the East, we can remember the story of Easter a...

Still Feeling Sad

Image
My camera broke on my phone, so I don't really have many pictures to share.  The only pictures that I have are of the selfie variety. Easter and General Conference has come and gone.  It was a nice Holy Week and Easter Weekend thinking about Jesus Christ and the sacrifice that He made for each and every one of us.  I finished listening to the book, "Considering the Cross", by John Hilton.  It was a great book and I learned a lot.  One particular part of the book that I have been thinking about is the part when he talked about the symbols of Easter.  He spoke of the Robe, the Reed, and the Crown.  The crimson robe is to remind us that Jesus entered the wine press alone.  He, alone, bore the weight of every single grape.  He did it for me.  The Reed is to remind us that although it was given to Jesus in mockery, He really did contain the power to rule.  He could have stopped everything...but he chose to stay.  The crown, ma...

Feeling sad. Feeling Overwhelmed. Feeling inadequate.

The bake sale that I mentioned in my last post skyrocketed.  I ended up making more than planned last week and this week I have so many orders that I'm stressing just thinking about it.  I had to put a stop to the orders.  If it was  not the kids' spring break, I would have not been able to do this.  I'm glad that I can do my small part...even though it was, honestly, more than I had anticipated and I'm feeling overwhelmed and inadequate to the task. There are three different types of trials that people go through.  One, the kind that they create themselves.  Two, the kind that they experience as a result of the agency of others.  Third, the kind that Heavenly Father gives them to help them grow into who He would like them to become.  Unfortunately, I feel as if the only trials that I have ever experienced have been of the first and second variety.  The "trial of baking too many cinnamon rolls" is a trial of my own making.  Ho...
