Our Hearts

Image
I heard a beautiful poem the other day. I memorized the last verse of it because it was simple, yet so profound. What can I give Him, poor as I am? If I were a shepherd, I'd give Him a Lamb. If I were a Wise man, I'd do my part. What can I give?  I can give Him my heart. I love that.  Truly the only thing that we have to give our Savior is our heart.  It's the one thing that we all have and the one thing that we can all give. Speaking of heart, I love thinking of this every time I see the word heart.  I learned this from our favorite Youtube guys, Taylor Halverson and Tyler Griffin. HEART It is HE whom we HEAR.  We need to soften our hearts in order to get to our spiritual EAR.  Like most ART forms, HEARING HIM requires much faith, patience, hard work, and practice in order to perfect. I was thinking about 1st Nephi today.  The shortest verse in the book says, "Lehi dwelt in a tent.".  I used to wonder why we had to know that.  I think ...

Personal Revelation

Image
I have really been loving what we have been learning about in Come Follow Me recently.  We have been learning so many good things.  I feel like I haven't ever read the Doctrine in Covenants before.  A completely new and enriching experience for me.  How blessed are we to have this Come Follow Me program as well as so many resources to assist and enhance our study and learning. I have loved learning about personal revelation.  I have been learning more and more that revelation is not necessarily a huge experience, but little experiences every day.  When we invite the spirit into our lives we will naturally be enlightened and inspired in all that we do.  Alma 32 talks about planting a seed of faith.  You will know if the seed is good because it will: S...Swell E...Enlarge E...Enlighten D...Delight I love that acronym.  This is how personal revelation is!  If we have a thought planted in our mind, we can know if it is from God if it m...

Feeling So Sad For Those Who Suffer

Image
Feeling sad right now.  Heartbroken, really.  We just found out that one of our friends from Tierra Bonita Ward was just diagnosed with Colon Cancer.  Ugh.  This time it's the husband, after so many women being afflicted with cancer in that poor ward.  I hope and pray that he is healed and doesn't end up leaving his sweet wife a widow and his poor daughter (Winter, who is Caitlyn's age) to have to grow up without an earthly father.  It is just too heartbreaking to consider.  What makes matters worse is that he is self-employed and they do not have health insurance.  What an additional stressor for them during such a difficult and devastating time.  We donated some money.  I wish that we could do more.  My heart aches to do more.  It is so difficult watching so many people suffer so much.  Especially when I feel like we are just not suffering in the slightest.  Why is that?  Are we not suffering so that we can mer...

Feeling Blessed

Image
Things are going well.  We have seriously been so extremely blessed.  So many people are suffering around the world and I feel a little guilty that life is going so well for us.  I hope that I am doing enough to thank my Father in Heaven, through my actions, how grateful that I am. The kids played marbles today.  I love seeing them play together. It rained last night.  There was a huge puddle at the front of the house that the kids spent a long time skipping and throwing rocks in it.  The joys of living on a rural dirt road in the desert.  The kids get to have the time of their lives. We have such a long driveway, another one of my favorite aspects of our home.  We are so incredibly blessed. It was the 100 Days of school this week.  Caitlyn got an extra craft and she shared with William. They looked adorable!  Caitlyn is really enjoying school this semester.  I'm so grateful for her teacher and all of the hard work that she puts int...
