First Days of School, A Baptism, and a Broken Toe
We had a busy week!
We got home from church today and the kids wanted to have a cooking competition. They all made their own scrambled egg sandwiches and then they had a team competition. I gave them the ingredients and they had 20 minutes to create their masterpiece. It's Fast Sunday today so I wasn't able to taste their creations, but they plan on doing this competition every Friday as a celebration of making it through another week of school.

Yesterday, August 6th 2022, Caitlyn Dawn was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints! I'm so proud of her and her choice. This is the first step. She is now on the covenant path. She now needs to use her agency to stay on the path and/or return to it after she makes mistakes. As President Nelson said in the last General Conference, we need to "Get on the covenant path and stay there", "Discover the joy of daily repentance", "Get to know god and how He works", "Ask for and expect miracles", and "Eliminate the contention in our personal lives". President Nelson has given us such wonderful advice over the past few years. He has counseled us to "...do the spiritual work necessary to know how to receive personal revelation in our lives, as we will not be able to survive spiritually in the coming days if we don't learn this vital lesson", "Hear Him", to "Let God Prevail", to "Remove the Debris from our lives", to "Strengthen our Spiritual Foundations", to "Be Grateful", and to increase our "Spiritual Momentum". I have a testimony, through the power of the Holy Ghost, that President Nelson is the true and living prophet on the Earth today.
Dad, Lisa, Ellie, and Allyssa didn't come to the baptism. Ellie got Covid so they stayed home, just to be safe. I missed having them here, but I know that Mom was there, visiting from the other side of the veil. That thought brought me peace.
Here are the pictures that I took of Caitlyn wearing her beautiful baptism dress that Sandy made her with the material from my wedding dress. She looked absolutely beautiful, inside and out.
The kids started school this week!
Bryce in 8th, Mason in 5th, Caitlyn in 3rd, and William in 1st. They all seem to have really good teachers this year. Mason was nervous on the first day, but I think he'll be okay once he gets more familiar with changes of the new school year. My kids are growing up. I never imagined myself in this stage of my life. I always just imagined myself staying at home taking care of my kids. To have all of my kids in school and me going to work still seems so strange to me. I'm looking forward to getting my classroom ready and getting to know my students this year. If I can't spend my days with my own kids, I can spend my days with other people's kids. Then I can spend my evenings, weekends, holidays, and summers with my own kids. It's the perfect job. I still don't consider myself a real teacher yet, as I don't have a credential and I'm only "part time", working Monday to Thursday, but it's a pretty good gig for someone who has been out of the work force for 14 years and doesn't have much experience.
William got a haircut this week and it was hilarious. He was so sweaty that the hair stuck to his face. He said he looked like a werewolf, ha ha.
Lizzie went to Trek this week and had a wonderful experience. Her Ma and Pa said that she did great and was one of the stronger ones in the group.
When she got back she was complaining of pain in her toe. She got an x-ray and found out that she had a displaced fracture of her distal phalange. Poor Lou!
