An Unexpected Surprise

Today was Martin Luther King Day so there was no work or school.  Hooray!

I woke up early and read scriptures and prayed before going on a 5-mile run.  It was a beautiful morning and I felt great.  I think my daily stretching habit has really been a good thing.

I spent the morning writing cards and postcards to the young women and the YCL's whom I'm in charge of for YW camp this year.  I also organized some paperwork, etc.

Jon brought hamburgers home for the kids for lunch, they were super excited.

I took Lizzie and Caitlyn with me on my errands.

My first errand was to stop by one of the young women's homes and wish her a happy birthday.  No one knew anything about her.  Before leaving (and throughout the morning) I prayed that someone would answer the door and I wouldn't have to leave the gift on the doorstep.  Heavenly Father answered my prayer...big time!  I was able to meet Adira's Mom and found out that she is the sister of one of my friends from another ward.  She said that she wanted to start coming back to church and she wanted to go to the zoom meetings.  I met Adira and she was so sweet as well.  Her Mom also said that she wanted her older kids to start going to the singles ward and she wanted information about that.  And on an on.  Holy Cow!  It was amazing!  I was hesitant going because I didn't know Adira or Aubray (her Mom)...but they were so nice.  It was such an unexpected surprise.  I hope and pray that this may open the door for Aubray to start coming back to church.  And eventually for Adira to be baptized.

Lizzie made this yummy fruit pizza for her home-ec class.  It was delicious!

Caitlyn had saved up a lot of money.  She used it to buy a doll from target today.  She calls it her "engineering doll".  Caitlyn wears these glasses often and we call them her "engineering glasses"...so when she saw this doll wearing the same glasses, she just had to have her!  Caitlyn is the most adorable 6-year-old on the planet right now.  You just can't get any sweeter or more adorable.

I made and ordered these postcards from Walmart a few weeks ago.  They turned out so well!  The feel and look just like real postcards.  We are sending them to our Young Women.  I only made 22 so I will need to make more.  I'm thinking of making one with the Young Women Theme on it.  And then we can maybe make 20 per month...each girl gets one postcard per month.  Just to brighten their day.  The good thing about these postcards is that they not only get a message in the mail, but they get something nice enough that they can hang up afterwards as well.
