Happy 38th Birthday, Daddy!
We usually go out to eat (on a date) to Red Lobster on Jon's birthday. He likes to get the All-You-Can-Eat shrimp meal. Due to the pandemic, that isn't possible right now. So I made him his favorite meal (well, one of his favorite meals), Spaghetti and meat sauce. I also made bread sticks and a tomato, basil, mozzarella ball salad. Then we ate his favorite traditional birthday cake (vanilla sheet cake with whipped cream, strawberries, and almonds on top).
I love this picture of Jon and the kids. I was actually a little sad when I looked at this picture. The kids look so old! Gone are the days of little babies and toddlers. We are in the "kid" stage of life. It still pains me to not have a baby in my arms, but I am determined to leave that stage behind and fully embrace the next stage of our lives. We are so blessed to have these 5 beautiful children!
It's tradition for me to make pumpkin pie play dough with the kids. This was the activity in our Halloween Countdown today. We also made pumpkin shaped grilled cheese sandwiches for dinner.
I got out the usual preschool Halloween Activities that I have had since Lizzie was 4 years old! The activities have lasted all of these years. This will be the last year for me to pull them out since William will be going to kindergarten next year. I'll have to wait until the grand kids arrive to get them out again. So sad.
They build Jack-o-Lantern faces with felt! They can also copy/match pictures that I printed out.
The kids have always loved this ghost story that I tell every year. It's about 5 ghosts who are only allowed to eat Marshmallows, Milk, Cottage Cheese, and Vanilla Ice-cream. In the story, the mother goes out and tells her children to not eat anything while she's away. Each ghost disobeys and ends up taking a little nibble of various forbidden foods. One ghost turns orange, one turns green, one turns purple, one turns red, and one turns speckled chocolate chip color. The mommy ghost calls the doctor after discovering her children like this upon her return. The doctor advised them to eat white foods for 3 days and they will be better just in time for trick or treating on Halloween night.
They love this story!
Caitlyn and William were having so much fun together this morning!
Mason and I had a nice, long "Walk and Talk". I love talking to my boys! And girls!
