Emptying the Clutter
Today went by pretty fast. I rode 5 miles on the bike this morning while finishing up reading 3rd Nephi 20-26. I made pumpkin chocolate chip muffins for breakfast...always a great start to any day.
I started my Stress Management class today through the LA County Libraries. It's a lot more information that I was anticipating it being. It's very interesting though and I look forward to seeing what I can learn from the course.
After school, I spent a good few hours cleaning out and purging the kids' bedrooms from clutter. I love doing that. I love throwing things in the garbage, ha ha. I keep the good stuff, but the stuff that I don't want around the house I just get rid of. It feels good.
I loved what I made for dinner today. I made Black Bean Sweet Potato Burrito Bowls with a delicious cilantro lime dressing on the side. Definitely a repeat meal! Everyone ate it but William...but that's no surprise. He is our pickiest and most stubborn eater.
Nana and Grandpa Duncan mailed me a letter yesterday. It's an old talk that Grandpa had given years ago about modern day pioneers. It was so good! He talked about how we are all pioneers. A pioneer is someone who leads the way. He talked about how Nana is a pioneer. She was the one to teach and bring Grandpa into the church. She was Relief Society President before Grandpa was Bishop. She was the ward Teacher Development teacher, with no qualifying credentials...but she was faithful, prayerful, and obedient and she was successful. He talked about how Nana was called to be the Primary Chorister at a time when she didn't know anything about music. She worked hard and learned all that she could to help the children sing.
I love learning about my ancestors. Grandpa Duncan has an entire history that he wrote. I have started reading it and it's the best thing in the world. I couldn't ask for anything more than to have the stories of my ancestors recorded and ready for me to read. This is one of the motivators for me doing this journal/blog. l want my posterity to be able to catch a glimpse into what life was like for me.
After dinner, we played Hide and Seek outside again. It is really a fun game to play in our backyard. There are so many places to hide. It's a dream come true.
And to have a mini farm next door to us is the icing on the cake. Our neighbors have dogs, pigs, sheep, goats, and chickens. We can't wait to get animals of our own one day!
Our Halloween Treat today was Mummy Dogs. Hot dogs wrapped in dough with mustard dots for the eyes. It was a hit with the kids! Actually, Jon even said that it was the juiciest hot dog he had ever eaten in his life, ha ha.
It took Mason a while to get started this morning. He complained that his flu shot was killing him.
Another picture of beautiful Lou with her new glasses!
