Thank Goodness it's Friday
The weather was nice and perfect again today. There was no wind, it wasn't too hot, and wasn't too cold. Absolutely perfect. After dinner we played outside for a few hours until it got dark.
At the end of last school year Lizzie had the opportunity to submit a page of poems to a national poetry contest for children. She wrote some really deep poems that I really loved. Well, she was informed a few months ago that one of her poems was chosen to be published in a book. She was so excited! We spent the last few months wondering what one of her beautiful poems was chosen to be published.
Well, we got the poetry book in the mail today. The book that was going to start Lizzie on the path that was going to make her a famous writer. We were SHOCKED to find out that the poem of hers that they chose to publish was the smallest poem that she wrote...and she wrote it mostly to fill in the space at the end of her page that she submitted! She was SO embarrassed and she wanted to burn the book, ha ha.
Lizzie's Poem:
The shells on the beach
Are pretty in the sunlight
And feel very smooth
We both nearly died laughing!
Her first published work was not anything that she wants to brag about, unfortunately. I'm proud of her and that she tried! And that she actually got published!
She will laugh about this one day, I'm sure.
The boys were playing a pretty intense game of "Simon Says"...Mason said that Bryce and William were "mean Simon's".
I made the seasons first loaves of Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Bread. It wouldn't be fall without it!
I also tried something different with our Chili today. I made homemade chili and then we ate it on top of cornbread waffles. A new twist on a favorite fall meal!
That look on Bryce's face says it all. He was one one today, ha ha.
William vacuumed today and Caitlyn gave him two dollars...such a sweet big sister!
Lizzie got her yoga ball in the mail today.
The kids were excited for the prize box today. Especially because Daddy added some Pokemon cards to the box...5 tickets each card!
