Sunday Scripts: July 26th, 2020

Today has been a good day so far.  We have had a typical Sunday.  We had church at home, I made cinnamon rolls and dropped them off to a few friends (my friend whose husband just left for basic training in the army, and another friend whose mom just passed away).  I fasted this morning and really desired to feel the promptings of the spirit.  I wasn't planning on making cinnamon rolls today.  In the middle of the kids' singing time, however, the thought came to me that I needed to bring cinnamon rolls to my friend whose husband just joined the army.  I knew that since I was making cinnamon rolls I would have enough for another plate for someone else.  I prayed and prayed to have a name come to my mind.  I told Heavenly Father that there had to be someone in the ward that I could drop off cinnamon rolls to.  No name came to mind.  Then the thought came to me that I didn't need to limit my cinnamon rolls for someone in our ward.  I immediately thought of my friend whose mother just passed away.  I was her visiting teacher for years in the Tierra Bonita ward and she is one of the best women that I know.  As soon as her name popped into my mind I knew that she was the one who I needed to give the cinnamon rolls to.  I went to her house and we had a nice talk and even shed a few tears together.  I woke up this morning not knowing that I was going to do this today...but with the desire in my heart and with the help of the Holy Ghost I was able to do something today that I never would have done on my own.  For this I am grateful.  I hope to be able to have days like this more often.

In reading/listening to to biographies of the presidents of the church I have noticed similarities between them all.  They all were humble men.  They all desired to do whatever the Lord asked them to do.  They were all on the Lord's errand.  What wonderful examples for the whole world.

For my sacrament meeting talk, I talked about the pioneers.  After church was over we watched the movie, "17 Miracles".  I love reading and learning about the pioneers.  I am amazed at their great faith, perseverance, strength, and testimonies.  Without them, my life would not be the same and I am eternally grateful for them and the sacrifices that they made so that I can have the opportunity to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

I am so impressed with Mary Fielding Smith.  She was Hyrum Smith's widow and the mother of Joseph F. Smith, a future prophet.  She was the grandmother of Joseph Fielding Smith (Joseph F. Smith's son), also a future prophet.  The leader of the company was trying to discourage her from crossing the plains but she stayed firm in the faith.  She told the captain of the company that she would make it to the Salt Lake Valley all by herself and she wouldn't be a burden to anyone.  She also told the captain of the group that she would make it into the valley before he did.  True to her word and as a testament to her great faith, she took her family all the way across the plains on her own.  One day her oxen feel down dead.  She talked to the leader of the company and he was upset, telling her that her oxen was now dead and that he would have to figure out a way to get all of her belongings to Salt Lake.  Mary Fielding was not about to be discouraged.  She asked her brother and another man to administer to the oxen.  A priesthood blessing was given to the Ox and it rose up and acted as if nothing was amiss.  What a faithful woman!  On the day that they were to walk into the Salt Lake Valley, 2 of her cows had escaped.  While the rest of the company moved forward, leaving her behind, a few of her sons went to find the cows.  The found the cows, and continued on their way to the valley.  While she was rounding up her cows, a rainstorm suddenly showered down upon the rest of the company.  Their animals scattered all around.  They were in a scene of chaos when Mary Fielding and her family calmly passed them by and entered into the Salt Lake Valley hours before the rest of the company.  True to her word, she made it across the plains and entered the valley before the captain.

"Welcome back to the Sunday Special.  This issue features a picture of my sleeping masks that I made with my own hands.  The one I'm wearing is my favorite.  The other one is a watermelon one and the other one is a Minnie Mouse one.  Sleeping masks.  I highly recommend them.  Even if my eyes are open, I can't see anything.  So it causes my eyes to close ad I fall asleep quicker than I ever have in my life.  When I wake up in the morning and when I take my mask off I can breathe in the sunlight with satisfaction.  Moving on.  One of the highlights of this week was yesterday.  Yesterday night.  July 25th, 2020.  A miraculous event happened.  One fluff came down from the sky, aka the fan.  Mother dearest looked up from her her computer, screamed in agony, threw her computer, and passed out.  Okay, I was lying about the passed out part.  But the rest was real.  I'm glad that I have witnessed this true event.  And I now know why I do weird stuff too. I get it from mother dearest.  She thought the fluff was a rat.  Mother dearest is the best in the world.  She made cinnamon rolls today and gave them away.  We each had 2 bites.  But it was heaven.  I am forever in her debt.  I finished knitting my scarf this week.  Made a lot of pot holder square thingies.  And mad a cup warmer.  And um...I read the scriptures, I said my prayers (Daddy said "I combed my eyebrows")...I did NOT comb my eyebrows, by the way.  I did Come Follow Me.  For my lesson at Church today I talked about Lemons.  When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.  Use the Living Water (Jesus) and use sugar (prayer, scripture study, family, music, hugs, love, yoga, etc.) to mix in the lemon juice to make lemonade.  Life is sweet.  What else?  What's my favorite meal this week?  We had pita pockets.  They were amazing!  They are spectacular.  And mother dearest made lasagna.  It looked like barf but I assure you it tastes like heaven.  I'm excited for next week.  Avocado toast.  Thank you for watching the Sunday Special.  Until next time, adieu." "For sacrament meeting, my talk was about Noah's Ark.  I learned to keep the commandments.  We can keep our "arks" strong by keeping the commandments. I ate waffles today.  William had a birthday party on Friday?  We watched Avatar?  We play outside?  I know to drink water because if you don't you get dehydrated?  I played the Piano.  I like playing the piano?   Cause it exercised my fingers."

"I played Legos.  I rode bikes with Mommy.  Mommy read us Goosebump books this week.  My talk was about the Brass Serpent.  The people of Moses were not grateful so Heavenly Father sent fiery serpents.  Then they bit some of the people.  And they knew that they were sinning.  So Moses prayed to Heavenly Father and Heavenly Father told Moses to make a Brass Serpant.  And hang it on a pole.  The people were supposed to look at it and live...but some people didn't and they died.  I learned that you can do the simple things to go to Jesus."

"Today in church I sang Families can be Forever Together.  And I love you, Mommy.  And today it is Sunday.  I watched, singded primary songs.  And today my sister was playing Legos with me and Mommy said I have to come here for the thing that I'm writig.  I sleep in really late.  And Lizzie sleeps in more than me because, um, we started the baby blessing without her.  And I watcheded "17 Miracles".  I liked the part how no one really died...only 3 people survived, I think.  And then I played with Lydia at William's party.  And he got more presents!  Only a card, a cool card bag.  My favorite thing to eat is Tacos.  Tacos!  And I can't wait until my fingers stop.  Oh yeah. And Lizzie has white braces on the bottom.  I mean silver.  Lizzie has two eyebrows.  Lizzie's tongue is freezing.  And William is pulling a string through a Lego.  And William is saying, "Can you do this through the Lego and then Look it?"  So I really wonder why Lizzie is growing two eyebrows.  Because no one really knows that.  And Lizzie did not want my popcorn that I gave up so I gave it to Mommy instead of her.  Because Lizzie did not like the taste and smell of it.  And I got a fishing pole.  One more thing, Thank you!  One more thing...you are a good boy and a girl because...when you laugh so much that Jesus laughs and that the hair on the fan is going everywhere when Brycie was giving a talk.  And Mommy, last night, a piece of dust feel on her computer and she screamed and dropped the computer."

William Over, Age 4

Wiliam had a birthday this week!  He turned 4!  Mommy decorated the table with Batman decorations.  From Mommy and Daddy he got a batman figure, a spiderman Lego set, a transformer, and a few books.  Mommy made special birthday donuts for breakfast and Daddy took him out for lunch for a cheeseburger (William's favorite).  For dinner we had breakfast (whole wheat waffles with strawberries and whipped cream, scrambled eggs, and sausage).  On Friday, he had a birthday party and Grandma, Grandpa, Bita,Tia, Tio, James and Lydia came over.  We ate hamburgers, hot dogs, watermelon, chips, and a Batman Cake.  The kids also had a water balloon fight.  William had a great day!

We put primary singing time on the big TV today!  It looked great.  I feel so incredibly blessed!
