A Day for New Tricks

Before school today, I video taped Mason doing a few new tricks.  He practiced going on his skateboard and shooting a basketball at the same time.  Then he practiced shooting baskets while jumping on his pogo stick.  A few months ago Mason got pretty proficient at running and jumping through the hole of a hula hoop.  I emailed the pictures to Nana and she thinks that Mason should join the circus.  I agree!  He is such a fun son.

William also learned a new trick today!  He is reading!  I sat down with him and tried to get him to read a few early reader "B.O.B." books.  He read 4!  It was so cute to watch him sound out the letters and put the sounds together.  I am amazed!  I'll just keep teaching him.  Kindergarten might be easy for him this year, but I would rather have it be fun and easy than a struggle for him.

I have been stressing some more about the election.  I saw the following on Facebook and it made my day.  I'm so tired of seeing everyone bad mouth all of the politicians.  It makes me sad.

Here is what I saw:

"Kamala is beloved.

Donald is fearfully and wonderfully made.

Mike is cherished.

Joe is important enough that I died for him."

- Christ Jesus

Isn't that amazing?!  I wish that people would stop being so cruel to the candidates and show love and respect instead.

After Jon was finished working today we went to Kaiser to get our flu shots.  William fell asleep in the car and he didn't wake up until after the flu shot was over, ha ha.  When we left he wondered why he didn't have to get one, ha ha.  Caitlyn cried...but she was brave and got it done.

After Kaiser we went to El Pollo Loco (Takeout) for dinner.  We took the food to the park to eat.  We ate by a little grass hill.  After we ate the younger 4 kids rolled down the hill over and over again.  They had a blast!

The kids rolling down the hill:

Jon ended up going back to the restaurant because the workers forgot to put the full order in our bag.  Caitlyn and Mason were supposed to get chicken, chips, and mac and cheese.  They just got 2 pieces of burnt chicken, ha ha.  It looked pretty pathetic...Mason's face shows it all.

We played "Old Maid" today and Caitlyn became very upset (to the point of tears) when she realized that she had the Old Maid at the end and that she would lose the game.  Poor girl!  She's still learning how to be a good sport.
