Sunday Scripts: August 2nd, 2020
My comment on the Ward Facebook Page today:
"Our spiritual preparation is greatly enhanced when we regularly study the scriptures and truths of the gospel and ponder in our minds the guidance we seek. But remember to be patient and trust in the Lord’s timing. Guidance is given by an omniscient Lord when He “deliberately chooses to school us.”
I love this quote. It's a good reminder to me that although I may try really hard to seek guidance from the Lord, it's not abnormal for the answer to not come immediately. I need to remember that the Lord is in charge of the timing of revelation.
Elder Cook mentions the revelation that President Kimball received in 1978 regarding the priesthood being given to all worthy male members of the church. The prophets and apostles sought diligently for years for this particular revelation. They waited patiently until the Lord revealed that the timing was finally right. This happened before I was born but I can imagine that it must have been very frustrating for all involved. When I think of this situation I'm in awe at the faith and testimonies of all involved.
Today is Fast Sunday. The kids are really grumpy...ha ha. They all woke up on the wrong side of the bed. There has been an unusual amount of whining and arguing today.
For instance, William had this huge booger hanging out of his nose. I picked it for him (in a napkin, of course). He cried for 5 minutes afterwards! I guess he was really attached to that particular booger, ha ha.
For church-at-home today, William and Caitlyn talked about the Gold Plates and how we got the Book of Mormon from the Gold Plates. Mason talked about how Peter walked on Water. He told us that we can be like Peter and focus on the Savior. When we focus on the Savior, we can do hard things. When we get distracted and lose our focus, we may begin to sink. However, when we re-focus on our Savior He will help pull us up. With Him, we are strong! Bryce gave a talk about David and Goliath. He read from a talk by President Thomas S. Monson about facing the Goliath's in our own lives. It was really good! Lizzie gave her talk about the Come Follow Me lesson this week. I am so proud of all of our children!
We watched an hour long video about President Hinckley afterwards. I absolutely love reading about the Prophets. Such inspirational men! From President Hinckley, I learned to try to stand a little taller. I learned to forget myself and go to work. I learned to be smart, true, grateful, prayerful, and humble. From Him, I learned to accentuate the positive and that things will always work out.

"Welcome to the Spiritual Sunday Special. Don't mind the pictures. Today I talked about Come Follow Me. Again. This week it was Alma 39-42. I love those chapters. I absolutely love them. They are so much meat inside of them. Not just the little McDonald's Hamburger meat, but the really expensive good-quality meat. My favorite part about those chapters was, well there were a lot of things I didn't know about before. Like how he talked about the restoration about how if we are good in life it will be restored to us in later life. I thought that was pretty interesting. I also liked how Alma listed the different names of the Plan of Salvation, such as the Plan of Restoration, Redemption, Mercy, Happiness, and more. Yesterday, Mother Dearest had a wonderful idea. That we should read every single one of President Nelson's talks by General Conference. There are 91 talks in total, so we are reading two a day and we will be able to finish by October 1st. I liked yesterday's talk "Protect the Spiritual Power Line". His second talk that he ever gave in General Conference.
Last Wednesday, we went to Ventura Beach. I brought a bag to put shells in because there are usually a lot of shells and we never bring any bags. And what do you know? There were no shells! That always happens to me! Like when it's cold outside and I tell myself that tomorrow I'll bring a jacket...and what do you know? It's warm outside. So I'm stuck carrying this 20 pound jacket in my tiny backpack. Already full of heavy books. Anyways. The beach was fun, besides, you know, the shell incident. We also went to Goodwill's. I got some more knitting materials. Books. And I think that's it. We ate at Whole Foods. Which is really, really yummy and healthy. It's like a "rich people" store. Because it's kind of fancy, in a way. I mean like...yeah. And it kind of reminds me of Target, except there's food. Whatever. And it's not red, it's brown-ish. The next day, we had avocado toast. Yub, yub. Friday Eizley came over. We had fun. Saturday was James's birthday party. And we had fun. The end of the Sunday Special." Theme song plays into the background as I fade into the shadows. 💽

"We went to the beach . At church I talked about David and Goliath. I fasted for Coronavirus. We went to James party. We watched Avatar.''
Mason, Age 8
"We got a couple of new Goosebump Books. Mommy read them to me. Mommy always falls asleep when she reads the books. I keep her awake by giving her beef jerky. And sometimes sparkling water. But then she burps lots. And when I went to James's birthday party, they had a playground, and I went on the swing. When I was going to get off I fell off backwards. I had wood chips stuck in the skin of my arm. Ouch! I fell off of my skateboard this week and I injured my hip. I have a big bruise. We went on the beach. And tar got stuck on our feet. After we went to the beach, we got books. And we got a new Car Puzzle game. Today I'm fasting for the Coronavirus to go away. My talk today was about Peter walking on water. I learned that when we focus on Jesus Christ, we can do hard stuff. And if we don't, we can't."

"I am fasting for the first time today. I'm not even hungry. So I might not eat dinner. I went to the beach. I made a mud castle. I put sand in the water and made it mud. And at the beach we had tar on our feet. We used special orange stuff to get it off the next day. 17 miracles. I was playing with Lydia when it was James's party. And the cake was good. Because it had strawberries and frosting on it. And it had sprinkles too. And it did not look good but it was good. And when that happened, I was...when we were going home from Utah...um....we were going to Eddie's World. And we didn't get anything because it was too much candy. And there was nothing to eat so we went out to eat. But it was a drive-through. Today in church I talked about the Golden Plates. And the Golden Plates, I mean, not the Golden Plates, the Joseph Smith is, he had a dream before he dug the golden plates. I am so glad that I fasted until Dinner. And I did not eat lunch or breakfast. I'm fasting for Nana. So, um, I have a wiggling tooth. And Mommy tried to pull it out but I feelded crackes on it. She almost cracked the whole entire tooth. She squeezed it with her sharp hands, like a dinosaur. but she's still nice, like a dinosaur. My sister is turning 13. I was learnded for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints...to sing the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Songs. Sunday special thingies that you write on the Chromebook. Lizzie calls me Catalina but I do not like that name. But Mommy's name is the goodest name for Caitlyn. She calls me Caitlyn. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen."

"Mommy, can you help me clean up? We went to the beach. Uh. I ate a snack. Then I played in the ocean. Then go. And then at home I played with my playmobiles. We went to James's party. They have a playground. And then, uh, we ate cake. And then we gone home and it was morning. And we ate breakfast. And then what? Then it was Sunday and we did church. And then I ate a peanut butter sandwich. I want to bear my testimony. I love Jesus. I love the Book of Mormon."
