Our Friday "Adventure"

While living in Quarentine, there aren't many places that our family can go together.  The kids have mainly stayed home for the past 4 months (aside from our trip to Utah).  Jon or I (usually Jon) does the food shopping.  Aside from that...we are major homebodies.  But today the kids were begging to go somewhere.  So, Jon told the kids that we could visit the dollar store and that he would give each kid $3.  It turned out great!  I spent my birthday money from Dwight to buy a bunch of prizes for our treasure box for home-school.   I figured that I would try to make school fun for them this year, since I will be their official teacher.  The governor of California just announced today that all schools need to go completely virtual.  As such, I figured that a little prize incentive would be a good incentive for good behavior.  Believe it or not, I spent $60 on dollar store treasure box prizes!  I'm not really proud of that...but if it helps the kids behave and have something to look forward to than it's okay.

I also spent a few hours planning out an epic Halloween Countdown calendar.  Each day, starting October 1st, the kids will have a craft and often a treat to go with it.  On each Friday, we planned to watch a special Halloween movie as well.  It will be fun!  The kids will love it, I'm sure.

Now I just need to plan William's preschool for this year.  A letter a week or something.  I'd like him to know his alphabet, numbers, shapes, and how to write his name correctly by the time he starts kindergarten.

After dinner today we went out and picked up weeds before riding bikes.  The weather is so nice after dinner.

Here's us on our way to the dollar store.

I went on a 5-mile run this morning.  I'm loving the freedom that I have to go running in the mornings.  I'm not sure how long it will last, but I'm loving it while I can.  I'm listening to President Hinckley's biography right now.  What an incredible man and prophet of God!  ''You can' t make a dollar out of fifteen cents."
