Valentine's Day

I didn't do as much as I usually do for Valentine's Day with the kids.  I usually get them little trinkets...which I didn't do.  I did make them the traditional heart-shaped rice krispy treats.  I was planning on making heart-shaped pancakes...but I started making them a little later than normal and I was running out of time.  So they got normal pancakes with sprinkles and ate them on heart-shaped plates.  It worked and it was good enough for them.

I volunteered at the Elementary School today.  It was nice.  The kids were all hyper because of the Valentine's Day shenanigans.

For lunch today, William decided to use the straw from his Juice Box to skewer his apples and peanut butter sandwich.  He was so happy about this!

After lunch, I received 2 phone calls from the school.  The first one was informing that there was a river on the streets adjacent to the school so the kids were not allowed to cross the street.

It gets like this every time it rains!  So ridiculous!

The second phone call from the school came from the school nurse, asking me to pick up Bryce because he puked!  All over his classroom!  I thought that it was because he had eaten too many sweets...but then he puked 4 more times and has just been resting.  So he may actually have the stomach flu.  I'm praying that no one else gets it!

Grandpa Turley and Lisa gave the kids a few games for Valentine's Day!  The pieces were all over the floor within minutes.

Jon had to work tonight.  So with Jon being gone and Bryce having the stomach flu...this Valentine's Dinner sort of flopped.  We didn't open up our sparkling cider.  I made brownies for dessert but we didn't eat them.  I did make our traditional heart-shaped pizza though.  That's a plus.  I came across a really good pizza dough recipe a few months ago and it is a winner.  I can feel confident in my pizza-making skills now.  I can truly say that I make a really delicious homemade pizza!

Well, here's to a long night of puking kids and a William who will NOT go to bed!  It's almost 9:00 and he is still up...I need my alone time in order to rejuvenate each night.  It's really rough when I don't get it.  I miss the days when William would just go to bed easily.  I hope to see those days again sometime soon.
